NRL’s engineering client is looking for a Senior Electrical Designer to join them on a 3-month contract – Hybrid working – 3 days in Macclesfield/2 days remote. This role is offered inside IR35.
About the role:
The Senior Electrical Designer will have the responsibility to support the local projects team through the provision of Electrical & Instrument Design and Consulting Services, ensuring effective delivery of pharmaceutical projects. This role will require a high level of autonomy and strong communication skills.
Projects within the current portfolio include:
1. Extensive flow and pressure monitoring project
2. Upgrade of effluent plant to PLC control
3. Upgrade of process plant to DCS
The post holder will:
1. Review and assess customer needs
2. Provide resource estimates for design-related activities
3. Produce reports, scope of works, concept design, and detailed designs (Typically RIBA2-4)
4. Support effective delivery of projects to time, quality, and cost targets together with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
5. Produce documentation in accordance with defined standards/quality requirements
6. Liaise with design and equipment subcontractors
7. Interface with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC, and Civil
8. Significant interface with the client and the internal Installation team
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
1. Extensive experience in a relevant design role including successful delivery of electrical installation designs within projects for the pharmaceutical sector.
2. HNC or Degree in a technical engineering related subject
3. Membership of a professional Institution or similar body is desirable
4. Experience in UK pharmaceutical construction projects is desirable but not essential
5. Experience of E&I design best practices
6. Project life cycle experience (Concept through detail design to construction support)
7. Sound experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
8. Undertake site surveys
9. Possess collaborative skills and experience working as part of a multi-discipline team
10. Ability to work in a team or alone, comfortable liaising with client representatives
11. Extensive experience of hazardous area design
12. Strong communication and organisational skills
13. Provision of 2D Design Deliverables, GAs, equipment layouts, and cable/containment routing diagrams
14. Cable Block Diagrams
15. Instrument Loop Diagrams
16. Honeywell BMS Interface Diagrams
Software Packages:
1. Proficient use of the following software packages:
2. AutoCAD LT
3. Microsoft suite of programs
