Skanska building services is looking for a Senior Design Manager (Mechanical) to join the team to effectively and professionally lead day to day design management of mechanical systems.
This scope will span operations in our new construction business as well as within our Capital Works projects in our facilities management portfolio in the following sectors; commercial, healthcare, education, council and defence.
The role will be the subject matter expert within the Mechanical discipline, it will hold responsibility as one of the Authorised Design Managers for Building Services. This includes the review and implementation of internal policies as well as ensuring that statutory requirements are adhered to.
What you’ll do:
1. Lead Mechanical Design Management for our MEP and FM Capital Works projects.
2. Ensure Principal Contractor and Principal Designer commitments under the Building Safety Act are met across our MEP construction and Facility Management Capital Works projects.
3. Act as building services Authorised Design Manager as required by BU governance. This includes determining the Design Responsibilities (BSRIA BG6) and Project Team responsibilities (RACI).
4. Support tender applications and PCSA periods. Act as a focal point to disseminate lessons learned from other projects and encourage standardisation of approaches. Ensure all Skanska minimum standards are met at the design stages.
5. Support our Temporary Works Designated Individual across our Facility Management Capital Works projects.
6. Add value to the design process by challenging solutions, methods and techniques where appropriate to improve build ability and reduce whole life costs.
7. Co-ordinate design reviews with other subject matter experts in OE/Enviro/H&S/CDM/Fire etc
8. Promote effective Design Management processes and use of CDE platforms through design stages and project delivery
9. Review and score MEP and FM design consultant performances across projects
10. Lead on internal CPD events to increase technical knowledge within the business
11. Regularly inspect works for compliance with design & legislative requirements and report on progress, ensuring remedial action is taken within agreed timelines.

13. Attendance to Skanska contracts in person to build relationships and offer support.
14. Design reviews.
15. Central reporting of risk, progress, and performance of projects designs.
16. Training provision to project teams.
17. Support Technical Team and work closely with Senior Technical Manager who holds Electrical Duty Holder role.
What you’ll bring to the role:
18. Expert understanding and experience of Design Management
19. Expert understanding and experience mechanical building services design.
20. Good understanding of Building Safety Act
21. Good Understanding of Building Regulations
22. Working Knowledge of HTM 06
23. Working knowledge of JSP
24. Comfortable with handling data in excel and powerBI
25. Experience working with SharePoint applications including automation and dashboarding.
26. Beneficial if individual is chartered or working towards chartership.
