Salary: £44,128 progressing to £55,755
Hours: Full-time (part-time considered)

Bucks Students' Union is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to assist us in achieving our goal of making life better for our students at Bucks, we have the ideal opportunity for you to join our central team. The role would be ideally suited to someone with experience of charity accounting, Sage Line50 and who is pragmatic with an adaptable approach to the day-to-day operational function of a finance department.
About the role
You will manage the finance office and function for the Union, including its trading company, with a proactive approach continuously seeking ways to improve processes and service. Providing financial performance information to management and budget holders and producing management accounts and other reports as required, you will have an exceptional attention to detail.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for working with senior management to develop financial strategies for the organization. You are comfortable handling large amounts of data, acting as a business partner, decision maker, and providing regular financial reporting.
Main job purpose:
* Provide timely financial performance information to the management team.
* Manage the finance office and function for the Union and its trading company.
* Produce management accounts and other reports as required.
* Support the annual budget setting and preparations
* Manage the financial year end reporting and audit process including the preparation of the annual accounts.
* Provide support for budget holders in managing departmental finances and meeting targets.
* Ensure Union compliance in all matters pertaining, but not limited, to finance, financial regulations and governance.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:
Education, Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified Accountant (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
Knowledge
* Strong technical accounting knowledge Knowledge of charity sector accounting
Experience
* Experience of monitoring administrative systems and procedures
* Experience of managing a finance function or sufficient combined experience, skills and knowledge to undertake this
* Experience of producing statutory accountants and dealing with auditors Experience of supervising and/or managing staff
Skills
* Excellent communication, inter-personal and presentation skills Ability to work as part of a team
* Ability to monitor financial and administrative systems Computer literate with Sage, Microsoft Word and Excel
