An exciting opportunity to join a well established friendly Interventional radiology team. We provide an IR service to the population of Tayside and Fife (approx 750,000). Based at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee you will also have a regular day time commitment to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. You will take part in a 1:7.5 IR on-call; all on-call services for IR are based at Ninewells Hospital.
We provide a full range of vascular and non vascular interventional radiology service including peripheral vascular intervention, endovascular aneurysm treatment (EVARs, TEVARs, FEVARs and emergency EVARs), tumour embolisation and ablation, interventions for dialysis access, Uterine Fibroid embolisation, GI stenting, complex venous access, spinal augmentation procedures, percutaneous biliary intervention and percutaneous urological intervention. We currently are part of a pilot for mechanical thrombectomy for the North of Scotland.
We have good working relationship with clinical teams and work alongside a team of 6 Vascular Surgeons of the East of Scotland Vascular network. There are established vascular, upper GI, hepatobiliary and urological MDTs.
You will be involved in a wide range of IR and development of special interests is encouraged.
We are proud that Ninewells Hospital is the base for the highly successful East of Scotland Training Scheme, which has been ranked with the highest trainee satisfaction in the UK for the last 3 years in the GMC survey. There are 2 funded IR training posts within the training scheme and there will be opportunities for you to develop formal training roles.
The IR suite has two fully equipped rooms with Siemens C arms in Ninewells Hospital and one fully equipped room with a Philips C arm in Victoria Hospital. The rooms are adequately staffed with IR radiographers and nurses. There is access to interventional CT facilities on both sites and outpatient IR clinic.
The indicative job plan is 8 DCC: 2 SPA and will be discussed with the successful candidate.
You must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or CESR(CP) at the time of interview for the post.
