Rotherham Council has made a strategic decision to make asignificant investment in childrens residential services. This will ensuremore of our looked after children are placed in Rotherham, close to their localcommunities, family and schools.
We are looking for Casual Childrens ResidentialPractitioners that are keen to be part of new staff teams that will work in arange of settings and with children and young people with sensory, ASD, mentalhealth needs and who have suffered significant trauma.
This new residential provision will be part of a Childrenand Young People Service judged as `Good` by Ofsted in January 2018 and buildon practice from our short break residential home judged as `Outstanding` inFebruary 2020.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking casualpractitioners who are committed to:
Develop their skills and practices as part of ateam
Supporting and caring for some of our mostcomplex children and young people, at times in solo provision
Working evening, weekend and sleep in shifts aspart of the residential team

The Casual Childrens Residential Practitioners posts play a role in the delivery of a range of in-house residential provision for Rotherham looked after children.
Rotherham Council has made a strategic decision to make a significant investment in childrens residential services. This will ensure more of our looked after children are placed in Rotherham, close to their local communities, family and schools.
We are using current best practice and evidence-based models to develop a range of new children`s homes including 2 and 4 bed EBD, emergency accommodation and solo provision for some of our most complex children and young people.
We are looking for Casual Childrens Residential Practitioners that are keen to be part of new staff teams that will work in a range of settings and with children and young people with sensory, ASD, mental health needs and who have suffered significant trauma.
This new residential provision will be part of a Children and Young People Service judged as `Good` by Ofsted in August 2022 and build on practice from our short break residential home provision.
Casual Childrens Residential Practitioners in Rotherham will:
1. Promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of looked after children across the borough
2. Build effective relationships with children and young people, being a positive role model
3. Apply agreed evidence based therapeutic and behavioural management approaches and practice models
4. Provide opportunities for children and young people to influence the decisions that affect them and the service they receive
5. Work effectively as part of team to ensure a joined-up service centred on the child
6. Engage in the running of the home including activities, meals, personal care and recording.
7. Undertake mandatory staff training, attend staff meetings and formal supervision sessions.
8. Provide and promote a safe, stimulating and nurturing physical environment
9. Hold a full valid UK driving license
10. Ability to transport children and young people to and from school/activities

Qualifications
Essential
21. NQF Level 3 qualification AS and A levels, NVQs Level 3, Applied A Levels, BTEC First Certificates and Diplomas, City and Guilds Advanced Craft Part 3, or NQF Level 4 Certificates of Higher Education Or Evidence of the equivalent level of knowledge gained through work experience

22. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or the equivalent. Or will have completed within 2 years of starting work in the role.

23. Experience of working in a service or provision designed to support children and young people with complex needs, such as difficulties in regulating their emotions and behaviours due to past experiences.
