Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance support functions of our warehouse automation system. The ideal candidate will possess an in depth understanding of warehouse automation, be adept at managing large teams, and demonstrate a strong commitment to ensuring optimal operational efficiency and safety. This role involves both managing the day to day running of the MHE, a strategic role in developing and improving the support team, and continuous improvement initiatives to support our warehousing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
4. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance professionals, including training manager, reliability manager, CMMS specialist, Maintenance planner, stores team.
5. Foster a culture of safety, team training, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
6. Set performance goals in line with business OKR’s and conduct regular performance reviews along with 1-2-1’s.
Maintenance Operations:
7. Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies and schedules to ensure all warehouse equipment and systems are operating efficiently, conducting regular reviews of the 52-week plan to ensure optimal performance is achieved.
8. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
9. Work to develop PM/WO compliance to achieve a world class level, reviewing periodically to ensure efficient PMs are conducted and appropriate resource is allocated.
Budget and Resource Management:
10. Manage the maintenance department budget, including forecasting and controlling expenses.
11. Oversee the optimization of resources, including labour, materials, and equipment.
12. Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of necessary spare parts and supplies.
13. Ensure equipment refurbishment is forecasted and included in future budgets.
Process Improvement:
14. Collaborating with the team identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
15. Utilize data and analytics to monitor performance and make data-driven decisions.
16. Continuously develop and improve the CMMS systems, using the team to own their individual areas within CMMS, driving to achieve a world class CMMS.
17. Ensure investigations are conducted for all major breakdowns and root cause actions raised and executed.
Compliance, Safety and Training:
18. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
19. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
20. Working with the training manager, ensure all shift have a robust training plan in place, with clear training needs/development plans in place.
Collaboration and Communication:
21. Work closely and build strong relationships with other departments, including Operations, Flow room, facilities, to support overall warehouse performance.
22. Communicate maintenance plans, progress, and issues to senior management and stakeholders.
23. Maintain effective vendor relationships for outsourced maintenance services, creating clear accountability and periodically checking value for money and looking to bring in house where possible.
Qualifications
What we are looking for?
24. Bachelor's degree or HNC/HND in Engineering, or a related field.
25. Minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
26. Strong knowledge of warehouse equipment and systems, including conveyors, sortation systems, and automated storage and retrieval systems.
27. Proven history of developing and managing maintenance programs and teams.
28. Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
29. Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
30. Proficient in using maintenance management software and other relevant technology.
31. Exceptional communication and people skills.
