Job summary
This is a 6-month Fixed term position. The successful candidate will be required to support the Medical Secretarial Team in the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service. This will involve inpatient and outpatient waiting list management for a speciality, in accordance with the Patient Access Policy, communicating appointments and admission related information to patients and carers and typing correspondence within performance targets as appropriate. The post holder will also be expected to cover the Senior Medical Secretary during leave or absence

Key Areas/Tasks
Communication & Relationships Skills There is a requirement to exchange verbal and written information with patients, staff and carers, requiring tact and diplomacy. The post holder will be expected to deal with queries from anxious patients and carers.
Responsibility for handling telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality using personal judgement to assess each situation and to deal with accordingly.
To deliver a high standard of communication to build and maintain good working relationships
To deliver a high standard of typing.
Responsibility of the scheduling of appointments and theatre lists for cancer, urgent and routine patients, in line with NHS wait times.
To work closely with Clinical, management and administration teams to ensure the best possible care and experience is delivered to our patients.
To support the overall administration duties required for an efficient and effective service.
