Trust Registrar in Care of the Elderly (ST3+ level)
The successful candidate will be a Part time appointment working with the Care of the Elderly Team. Working with the Specialty Doctors they will ensure cover is provided for general inpatients and rehabilitation patients on the Stroke ward with 6 bedded hyper acute stroke area, and also general Care of the Elderly wards.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the day to day running of the ward with self directed ward rounds,
2. Assessment of new patients
3. Provide senior support to junior members of the team
4. Plan maintenance medical treatment and appropriate outpatient investigations
5. Support consultant ward rounds
6. Provide cross cover
7. The attendance at out-patients clinics will be as per the DME rota
8. Support the wider nursing and specialist nursing team
9. participate in the general acute registrar on-take rota
10. Involvement in arranging junior team, multidisciplinary team meetings, in patient discharge summaries, out patient letters and general correspondence
11. The successful candidate may be required to participate in the acute/internal Medicine Registrar on-call rota depending on experience and competence level.

The Trust employs over 6258 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.
The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.
