Agenda has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Animal Technician to join our growing team in the South. As an Animal Care Technician, you will have an opportunity to look after animals and provide for their welfare needs while obtaining professional growth through involvement in a variety of projects.
As an Animal Care Technician, you will work with a team of scientists and technicians to ensure the research in our in vivo labs is carried out with care and compassion.
Basic Requirements:
1. Minimum of GCSE's (or equivalent) including English, Maths and Science (or equivalent experience).
2. A genuine passion for working with animals.
3. Previous experience in animal husbandry is desirable.
4. Outstanding time management, accurate data entry and computer literacy skills.
5. Effective communication skills, written and oral.
6. Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
7. Willingness to undertake training in accordance with Home Office requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Routine animal husbandry including handling animals, feeding, watering, and general health checking.
2. Responsible for ensuring that all animal welfare concerns are brought to the attention of the facility NACWO.
3. Assist in ensuring that the laboratories are adequately stocked with consumables.
4. Cleaning and sterilisation of all cages, substrate, bedding materials, environmental enrichments, food, water sources, waste matter, and consumables.
5. Keep accurate records and capture data in writing or electronically as required.
6. Contribute to the general maintenance of the facility, working to a high standard of cleanliness at all times.
7. Contribute to the day-to-day maintenance of the facility.
8. Other related duties as required and/or assigned.
