An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated individual to join a great team in the NHS Wales Executive to support the development of the National Quality & Safety agenda in Wales.
The NHS Executive is hosted by Public Health Wales, but is governed as an agency of Welsh Government, based in the NHS.
The NHS Wales Executive is a new, national support function and an essential element in making the health system in Wales fit for the future and achieving A Healthier Wales' vision of a whole-system approach to providing excellent health and social care across Wales. Working on behalf of Welsh Government, the NHS Wales Executive's role in supporting this mission is to provide strong national leadership and strategic direction, and enable, support and, where necessary, intervene to ensure the delivery of national priorities and standards, and safeguard and improve the quality and safety of care. The key purpose of the Executive is to drive improvements in the quality and safety of care to achieve better, fairer healthcare outcomes for the people of Wales.
This role will work for the NHS Executive, in the Quality & Safety team of the Performance and Assurance Directorate.

Job description
Job responsibilities
The post holder will work with the Quality & Safety Manager to manage the national systems and processes for National Incident Reporting. To achieve this, the post holder will lead on delivering against a range of objectives, which will include but are not limited to:
1. operational day-to-day oversight of the incident management system (Datix)
2. identification of incidents requiring escalation
3. developing and delivering reporting functionalities
4. collation and analysis of relevant data to identify and escalate areas of risk
5. development of audits and other processes to help ensure the system is operating efficiently, effectively and with maximum benefit
6. provision of advice and support to colleagues on areas within their remit
The ideal post holder will be experienced in the use of Datix systems and the analysis of data to provide intelligence to identify risks, help decision making etc. They will ideally have been involved in NHS quality & safety work, with an in depth understanding of areas such as concerns reporting and investigation and understand the challenges that can occur in these areas.
