Teacher of English (1 Year Maternity Cover)
We currently have an opportunity for an outstanding and experienced Teacher of English to join our English Department. This role is a full-time, 1 year maternity cover with a start date of January 2025.

The Ideal Candidate: The successful candidate will:
1. Report to and be line-managed by the Head of English and will work closely with all members of the English department.
2. Be an excellent classroom practitioner who can inspire pupils across all ages and stages, instilling in them a love of literature.
3. Be expected to plan and deliver lessons of the highest standard, utilising stimulating resources and differentiating appropriately to manage the needs of individual pupils.
4. Have a sound understanding of the SQA course specifications and be confident in their delivery of presentation classes.
5. Have a strong academic background and a passion for teaching young people.
6. Be an effective communicator and demonstrate an ability to engage confidently with pupils, colleagues, and parents alike.
7. Contribute not only to the life of the English department but also to the wider school community, which might mean assisting with performance, sport, Duke of Edinburgh, or running a lunchtime club.
