The Children’s Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We’re there for children, every step of the way.
This role sits within our Retail Division.
We are currently looking for an previously experienced Assistant Manager to join our dynamic, ambitious team in our shop in Burnham On Sea.
You'll be expected to assist the Shop Manager is all aspects of the retail business including driving sales, managing stock and donations, developing a team of volunteers and assisting the shop manager in growing the business within the local community.
A key part of this role will be your ability to work alongside the shop manager creating a harmonious and successful working relationship and you must have excellent communication skills.
The required skills and competencies for this role are:-
4. Previous Assistant Shop Manager experience, ideally 1 year or more within the retail or hospitality sector. Experience within the Charity retail sector is preferred. A desire to progress and develop own skills is desired and excellent timekeeping will be required.
5. Have a proven track record of good attendance and communication skills.
6. The ability to work for long periods on your feet, the role also requires physical activity of lifting and sorting for long periods of time so a good level of fitness is essential.
It would also be an advantage if you have any of the following skills and competencies:-
7. E-commerce confidence to explore online sales opportunities within the charity sector.
8. Confidence in IT skills, competence in using programmes such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and confident in using Epos till software.
9. Previous Voluntary or Charity retail experience.
