JOB PURPOSE:
We require a highly motivated and flexible individual to support front line delivery of our education programme at STEM Discovery Centre in Stevenage. Our facility has been designed specifically to engage and inspire young people from Key Stage 2 upwards to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM).
We are an education centre open for school trips and other group bookings. We offer a range of science shows, investigation workshops and make and take activities. We are growing quickly and want to expand our small team so that we can continue to provide excellent quality customer service to learners, students, schools, teachers and sponsors, based at the STEM Discovery Centre in Stevenage.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
3. An enthusiasm for working with young people and confidence at leading education activities and demonstrations.
4. Experience of delivering programmes to young people – for example coaching and/or mentoring, formal and informal education activities. Experience of a STEM related area would be an advantage.
5. A customer focussed approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Proven organisational skills and be relied on to work under your own initiative.
7. Good IT skills, GCSE A* to C or equivalent in maths and English.
8. Enjoy working as part of a small team.
9. An ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, flexible and able to adapt quickly and creatively to new situations.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
10. Support the STEM Discovery Centre team to prepare and deliver high-quality hands-on STEM education activities to students aged 7 – 17yrs. Incorporating an effective range of learning methods designed to engage and inspire.
11. Present dynamic demonstrations and deliver exciting activities to school children and visitors.
12. Provide excellent quality customer service to learners, students, schools, teachers and sponsors, both based at STEM Discovery Centre and through occasional outreach activities across the country.
13. Support and help develop delivery of new revenue generating activities in addition to our core education offer – for example corporate hire.
14. Provide support for the team administrator on the effective operation of STEM Discovery Centre including booking arrangements, reception duties, facilities management, maintenance of equipment and learning support materials, monitoring stock levels and arrange for replenishment as required.
15. Comply with health and safety procedures and ensure that STEM Discovery Centre is always a presentable and safe working and learning environment.
16. Undertake continuous professional development in order to meet the ongoing needs of the role.
17. Carry out other duties as may be reasonably requested by the centre manager or college colleagues to support the smooth running of the STEM Discovery Centre.
18. Occasional weekend work required (maximum 3 times per year).
