Good governance sits at the heart of Islington. Internal Audit plays a key role in supporting delivery of the Council’s objectives by providing assurance on the effectiveness of the control environment.
We are seeking a high performing Audit Manager to join our highly respected team. The role will manage the Internal Audit team, comprising of three principal auditors and a co-sourced partner. While this is a dedicated Islington role, the role presents as an exciting opportunity to liaise and collaborate with peers at Camden as part of the Camden Islington Shared Internal Audit Service.
The role reports to the Head of Internal Audit. Alongside the principal auditors and co-sourced partner, you will seek to deliver a proactive and customer focused Internal Audit service while providing objective, independent assurance.

About You
You will ideally be working within a public or private sector Internal Audit management role, or as a highly successful Internal Auditor who is ready to take the step up to management. You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of risk based Internal Audit experience. You will possess a sound understanding of the relevant Internal Audit Standards and will ideally hold an IIA or audit qualification.
This high profile role affords regular exposure to senior officers and members. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels within the Council. As reporting is a key function of Internal Audit, you will possess superb written communication skills, ensuring a very high standard of reporting to auditees, the senior leadership and members. You will show strong leadership qualities and will be able to work on your own initiative and self motivate. Resilience is key and you will be able to effectively and adeptly manage a varied workplan and conflicting priorities.
