Due to growth in service, The Holden School seeks an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor who can inspire pupils and young people with complex learning through a highly personalised curriculum. Our pupils and young people need engaging, creative, practical learning and so delivering staff need the ability to thrive in a flexible curriculum structure and fully utilise our fantastic facilities to offer personalised programmes.
Purpose of Job
This key function of this role is to cover teacher and teaching assistant absence across the school. There will be an expectation to deliver and support planning of lessons in the case of sickness, as well as providing pastoral support where necessary. When we do not require cover for teachers, you will be required to cover breaks and completing tasks at the SLT’s discretion. There is also the responsibility of Exams Officer attached to this role.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
The supervisor will be responsible for:
1. delivering lessons to cover teacher absence
2. supporting in classes across the school to cover teaching assistant absence
3. liaising with teaching staff with regard to work set for a class;
4. managing the behaviour of students to ensure a safe and inspiring learning environment
5. collecting any completed work and resources after the lesson and returning them to the appropriate teacher or subject lead
6. to work alongside teacher and teaching assistants to ensure a positive environment for all pupils
7. to be able to plan lessons if and when required
8. to take on the role of Exams Officer for our small cohort of young people
