Role Overview:
As a Progress Support Tutor, you will be responsible for providing academic support, mentoring, and guidance to students, helping them overcome challenges, set personal goals, and achieve success in their studies. You will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure that each student’s progress is monitored and supported effectively.
About the school:
The School is a mixed Secondary School for students aged from 11 to 16 years with around 780 students in total. The School is based close to Fareham and the school was graded as a Good School in its last Ofsted inspection and continues to perform well.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and small group support for students who require additional academic assistance.
Monitor and track the progress of students, identifying barriers to learning and implementing strategies to address them.
Offer advice on study skills, time management, and effective learning strategies.
Provide pastoral support to students, ensuring they are engaged, motivated, and confident in their academic abilities.
Work closely with subject teachers to ensure students are receiving the support they need to succeed across all areas of their curriculum.
Organise and facilitate progress review meetings with students, parents, and staff to assess individual development.
Support students in setting personal academic goals and help them develop action plans to achieve those goals.
Provide mentorship and guidance, fostering positive relationships to build students' confidence and resilience.
Assist in the development and delivery of progress-related workshops, seminars, and learning resources.
Ensure accurate and timely records of student progress, interventions, and outcomes are maintained.
Requirements:
A degree or relevant qualification in education, tutoring, or a related field.
Strong understanding of the challenges students face in their academic journey.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
Ability to tailor support to meet the individual needs of students.
Experience working with students in an educational setting, ideally in a support or tutoring capacity.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
A passion for supporting student progress and helping them achieve their academic goals.
Desirable:
Previous experience as a tutor or in an academic support role.
Knowledge of effective tutoring and mentoring techniques.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a focus on student-centered outcomes.
A proactive and enthusiastic approach to supporting student success.
