EKC Group are seeking a Head of English to join the Group at EKC Canterbury College. As a Head of English, you will be responsible for managing a programme area and promoting high standards in a positive and supportive culture that aspires to be outstanding.
The English department at Canterbury College is responsible for the delivery of Functional Skills and GCSE resit English to our students on a range of technical, vocational and academic study programmes. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates who are English specialists and have recent experience of leading and managing curriculum teams. Working with colleagues from across the college the Head of English is an integral part of our college management team and the ability to collaborate effectively will be an essential part of the role.
In the role of Head of English, your responsibilities will also include being responsible for the quality of programme provision and actively encouraging excellence in teaching while effectively managing a delegated budget.
About You
Our ambition is to find an experienced yet innovative and proactive individual to join our management team to take forward and shape the future of the department. You will be responsible for ensuring that curriculum delivery is of the highest quality whilst ensuring the required support is in place to help all learners thrive and achieve in our dynamic teaching and learning environment.
You will bring a track record and genuine passion for driving up standards and a can-do attitude that will inspire your team. Up-to-date industry knowledge and a good understanding of current industry practices are essential requirements for this role. A commitment to excellence, a focus on delivery, and strategic understanding are also crucial.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a degree level qualification and a recognised teaching qualification (DET/PGCE/CertEd). With demonstrable teaching practice at good or outstanding level, you will also have experience of curriculum planning and development and a proven ability to manage and lead an experienced, professional team to deliver results.
