UK R&D Skincare Manager
We are currently looking for a UK R&D Skincare Manager to join our fast growing, successful, FMCG company. The company supply both private label and branded products to highly successful leading retailers worldwide. We are a highly respected, dynamic cosmetic and skincare company who have seen significant growth year on year. We are manufacturers with a brilliant design and NPD department.
Responsibilities:
· Working in collaboration with the NPD teams to design and develop multiple complex skincare, hair and colour cosmetic formulations, inc. creams, serums, SPFs, stick formulations, balms, foundations, lip products etc. for a wide range of UK and International customers. Work with minimal assistance to meet briefs within deadlines and with a high level of accuracy.
· Provide accurate costings, timings and feedback to all relevant teams.
· Support customer queries where necessary and become a representative for the UK formulation team both internally and externally.
· Build and maintain collaborative relationships with suppliers and work through research to add the best new raw materials to the portfolio in keeping with formulation requirements, costs and trending ingredients.
· Create technical advancements and new frame formulations, prioritising those that fit in with market trends/benchmarks to strengthen and evolve the existing portfolio to contribute to the innovation pipeline and continually build your personal expertise.
· Liaise with the regulatory teams to ensure testing is carried out according to processes.
· Have an eye for detail, ensuring effective data management and storage to support product development and effective transfer into production.
· Lead a small team of formulation chemists by providing mentoring and training to build and maintain an effective and productive team culture.
· Provide scale-up support to the manufacturing team and work closely with the Technical Manager via production of manufacturing flowcharts and relevant testing data (microscopy, observations etc.). Attend production when needed.
· Work within processes and aid in the maintenance and development of lab SOPs.
The successful candidate will already be in a management role within the Cosmetic Industry with an innovative approach to formulations, this person will also have experience within a very fast paced environment with a hands on approach.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience Managing a Cosmetic Laboratory with expert formulation experience in the cosmetics industry, including SPF/Suncare formulation experience.
They will also process excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well working very closely with the Regulatory and Technical Team. This role requires a hands on individual with a flexible approach and a willingness to get ‘stuck in’.
This required candidate must have a degree in Cosmetic Science/Chemistry.
