Engineering Technician Apprentice Level 3 - Services – start a journey of endless opportunities
The role
Are you keen to start an exciting career in mechatronics? Are you a self-starter who is keen to grow within an innovative company? If so, we want to hear from you. We are looking for an Engineering Fitter apprentice to join us in Sept, who is excited about maintaining and repairing products that are revolutionizing the world of vacuum. We want people who are engaged and excited about solving unique technical problems.
What will the apprentice be doing?
Responsibilities, aligned with the Level 3 standard, include but aren’t limited to:
1. Developing an understanding of workshop equipment
2. Learning how to service our pumps by carrying out checks and maintenance
3. Learning how to repair and replace faulty parts
4. Applying safe systems of working including electrical safety testing
5. Applying proven techniques and procedures to solve engineering/manufacturing problems
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
6. Leybold and our training provider, East Surrey College will collaborate to ensure that you are provided with continuous training and development.
7. The first year you will spend 3 days a week at East Surrey college to learn engineering principles, and this will reduce to 1 day in year 2.
8. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship you will obtain a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Engineering.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
9. Upon successful completion of this scheme, you could be offered a Service Engineer role with our inhouse team in Chessington, with the potential to move out into the field or within the wider Atlas Copco Group.
10. You could also be offered further training to expand your learning. Many of our Service Engineers began their careers as apprenticeships

What we expect from you:
17. 4 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or equivalent, including Mathematics, English and a Science
18. A passion for engineering - experience shown from personal interests or school projects is a plus
19. A strong interest in learning and growing as a service engineer
20. An interest in engineering or construction and enjoys learning how things work
21. Good timekeeping and the ability to work to deadlines
22. Good communication skills
23. Able to understand and follow instructions
24. Takes pride in their work and has a keen eye for detail
25. Adaptable
26. Can-do attitude
27. Works collaboratively with others
