Job title: Safety, Internal Flow and Hazards Engineer (CFD) Location: Barrow-In-Furness – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role Salary: £45,628 (dependent on skills and experience) What you’ll be doing: Undertaking technical work on all aspects of a CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulations, including pre-processing (CAD modelling and meshing), applying & developing CFD model, solving analysis, post processing & authoring technical reports/presentations Supporting team meetings & providing technical support Project managements and business development Technically reviewing work Capability development – establishing processes & methods Involvement of CFD toolset research & development activities Your skills and experiences: Essential: Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics etc or equivalent experience Experience working in a highly regulated/high hazard industry Proficient using at least one CFD software package such as Ansys Fluent or StarCCM Desirable: Awareness of Safety case development Experience in using at least one, OpenFOAM or FDS (fire dynamics simulator) Chartered Engineer or working towards/ability to achieve Experience of programming in a high-level language (e.g. VBA) Experience in Ansys Fluent UDF’s (user defined function) and/or Java for Siemens Star CCM Benefits: You’ll receive benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. Internal Flow and Hazards team: As a Principal Engineer within the Internal Flow and Hazards team, you will be supporting a wide number of customers throughout all submarine programmes. The role also supports site & facilities. Typically, within the whole boat design team, the CFD models are based on consequence analysis and include fire, steam release, water-based fire suppression systems, thermal analysis, flammable and toxic gas dispersion You will have opportunities for professional career progression towards Consultancy or Management roles.
