Pet Health Checker

£12.48ph, 20 hours pw – hours to be worked between 06:00 & 15:00
This role is a 12-month fixed term contract.

Right now, we are looking for a Pet Health Checker to join our Pet Delivery Team in Towcester, Northamptonshire.
The Role
Pet Welfare is our top priority and in this job role you will be responsible for exactly that.
As part of a team of Pet Health Checkers you will be reporting to the Small Animal Welfare Manager and your main remit will be to assess the health of pets before preparing them for travel. Other duties will include (but are not limited to) deep cleaning of working areas, managing usage orders, cleaning out and providing food and water to the pets.
Although experience of pet health care and farm work is desirable, training will be provided.
A driving licence and access to a vehicle will be essential.
Hours of work will be between 6am to 3pm.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct a thorough health check on a variety of pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, and rats. Assess pet health and make decisions based on pet welfare.
2. Prepare pets for travel.
3. Keep up to date with latest training provided and pet care knowledge.
4. Maintain good time management, work to high standards within allocated working hours.
5. Clean pet enclosures
6. Provide food and water for the pets.
7. Manage usage items and place orders when needed such as PPE, grooming equipment, cleaning equipment, pet related food and bedding.
8. Clean the site facilities and maintain high levels of surface and equipment hygiene.
9. Contribute to disease management and prevention of cross contamination.
10. Work to set policies and procedures.
11. Communicate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.

13. Previous experience in animal health and/or a farm background is desirable.
