Long-Term Teachers is proud to support an incredible provision for young boys with social, emotional and mental health challenges. Due to an increase in students joining their provision, they are seeking a patient, resilient and passionate learning support assistant to join their team.
About the role:
This role is based at a small, all-boys school, where you will support students across KS2 - KS4. As a learning support assistant, you’ll work closely with the classroom teacher, focusing on both the academic and emotional wellbeing of the students. The young people you’ll work with may have experienced trauma, have ADHD, autism, or other complex needs, making resilience a crucial quality for this role.
You’ll be working with students who have challenging behavioural needs and require a steady, supportive presence in their lives. This role is not just about supporting learning; it’s about being a consistent, positive force for these young people who may not have had the best start in life.
Key qualities:
* Resilient: You must have the strength and determination to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively
* Relational approach: Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their development
* Excellent behaviour management: Maintain a positive and controlled classroom environment
* Good work ethic: Be prepared to engage fully with the students, supervising them through the day, including lunch
* Sense of humour: A light-hearted approach can often help in building rapport and easing difficult moments
* Boundaries: Set and maintain clear, consistent boundaries with students
* Adaptability: Be ready to adjust to changes at short notice and handle unexpected situations with ease
About the school:
Our school is committed to supporting the wellbeing of all staff. You’ll receive full training and ongoing support, including daily safeguarding meetings and access to counselling services. You'll be part of a close-knit, friendly, and supportive team that values collaboration and mutual support.
Previous experience in education is desirable, but not essential. A background in care settings can provide a strong foundation for success in this role. You will be working Monday to Friday, term time only.
