Supporting our new Managing Director of Motor, Lucy Johnson, we’re recruiting for a Business Management exec to help ensure the Motor business is executing on the Group strategy. Providing high-level support in managing business operations, implementing strategies, and overseeing key projects, this role requires a proactive leader with strong business acumen, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will be a trusted strategic partner to Lucy, enabling her and her leadership team to drive change and make decisions at pace.
What you’ll be doing:

This role requires a proactive leader with strong business acumen, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. By building strong relationships across the business, you’ll help ensure alignment, accountability, and transparency.
1. Strategic Planning and Execution:Work with the Managing Director (MD) of Motor and their Leadership Team (LT) to develop and execute the Motor strategy and initiativesCoordinate Motor initiatives to ensure they’re joined up - encouraging simplicity and identifying and removing any blockersMonitor industry trends, regulatory guidance, and competitor activities ‘bringing the outside in’
2. Operational Excellence:Monitor key performance indicators relating to the Motor operations (financial, trading, customer, risk and control)Work closely with finance and assist the Motor LT in preparing and managing budgets, forecasting financial performance, identifying cost efficiencies and ensuring that financial goals are met.Lead by example in developing the ‘trading focus’ within motor, owning the delivery of quality trading MILead key projects, from initiation through to completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.Develop a sound network across DLG, maintaining a pulse on daily operations to understand trends, risks and opportunities and help Motor Leadership pivot as required – quickly and proactively.
3. Motor Office Support and Communication:Ensure the Motor MD is fully briefed and prepared for meetings at all levels within the Group and represent the Motor MD at internal/external meetings as required.Prepare and coordinate content for reports, briefings and position papers, Board Papers, Strategy and Prioritisation events etc.Monitor actions on behalf of the Motor MD ensuring issues are resolved to maintain pace.Develop key messages (internally and externally) on behalf of the Motor MD.Manage the Motor MD’s cost centres, payroll, and procurement expenses and monitor alignment with Motor budget.Oversee the smooth running of all matters connected with the Motor LT Meetings and co-ordinate functional events.
4. Leadership:Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture across Motor.Overseeing initiatives with the Motor LT to improve employee engagement and satisfaction.
What we’re looking for:
5. Experience in financial management, investment and budget planning for a large function – including forecasting, managing business performance, budgeting
6. Knowledge of or curiosity about the Motor insurance industry
7. Experience in working across an organisation - across organisational boundaries and be a key member, providing guidance whilst bringing empathy and energy - working with our ExCo
8. Experience working with the executive/C-Suite level in a fast-paced and complex business environment
9. Analytical skills to not only gather and summarise data but to also help find solutions to project challenges. Exercise a high level of independent judgement and problem solving, being able to influence where needed.
10. Evidence of managing communications, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines, exercising exceptional organisational skills
11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate and present information to a wide range of senior internal and external contacts and prepare materials for such audiences
12. Discretion, tact and assertiveness, with the ability to influence and manage relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
13. Proactive and self-led with the personal resilience to work under conflicting priorities and pressures.
14. Adaptable and tenacious with the stamina to see work through to completion.

This role will be based in central London – minutes away from Bank Station, with an expectation to be office-based c.3 days per week.
