We are looking for a enthusiastic new team member to join Ward 12, one of our general and emergency ward at Royal Preston Hospital.
We are looking for a qualified Assistant Practitioner / Nursing Associate, who has a passion for providing high quality patient focused care for our surgical patients who have a flexible attitude towards work and a desire for new challenges.
You will gain valuable experience & will develop wound assessment knowledge and wound care management skills. Pre & Post operative care knowledge & skills. These skills are transferable to any area of your nursing career.
Main duties of the job
General duties will include pre & post-operative care, physiological observations and investigations. You will develop an in depth knowledge of wound management, stoma care, drain and fluid balance management and provide personal care to interest in Upper GI, Colorectal and Urology would be beneficial.
As a Band 4 you will receive direct support from senior nursing colleagues to develop and enhance your skills. Enabling you to nurse a cohort of patients and be responsible for their care.

Job responsibilities
Contribute to the assessment, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines under supervision.
Support and provide patient education and health promotion.
Support the delivery and co-ordination of care, through appropriate professional practice.
Contribute to the management of risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.
Maintain accurate and complete records of all care activities, in a timely manner, adhering to local and professional standards for documentation.

Qualifications & Education
Essential
1. Basic General Education GCSE Maths & English grade C or above OR level 1 numeracy skills and level 2 literacy skills
2. Assistant Practitioner Course completed
3. Diploma/NVQ level 3 in Health / health & Social care OR completion of the LTHTR INCS course.
Desirable
4. Basic Life Support
5. ECDL or equivalent IT skills
6. Counselling Course
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
7. Significant experience of working at Senior Health Care Assistant level in a health or equivalent setting
8. Recent experience of working within an acute hospital setting
9. Experience of working with AHPs in MDT
10. Experience of assisting with clinical procedures
11. Knowledge of Health & safety
12. Knowledge of infection control and decontamination processes
