Best Interest Assessor - DoLs Team, Adult Services
Salary - £41,418- £46,464 pro rata (grade 7)
Hours -18.5 hours per week (week one: Monday -Tuesday and week two: Wednesday – Friday then repeat).

The City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking an enthusiastic Best Interest Assessor to join our dynamic and hardworking DoLs team. This permanent position is due to the retirement of one of our team members and is an ideal opportunity for an individual who is looking to advance their career and join a thriving and supportive team.While the implementation of Liberty Protection Safeguards has been paused; (which was due to replace DoLs) the expertise and knowledge around DoLs and the MCA are still required more than ever!
You will be part of the friendly and supportive DoLs Team,and you will act in the role of a dedicated Best Interest Assessor on behalf of Wolverhampton Supervisory Body. Wolverhampton has an established and successful DoLs Team which continues to perform well in comparison to our West Midlands counterparts.
The successful candidate must be a qualified Best Interest Assessor and is currently practising the role; and can provide evidence of assessments completed alongside annual update training.You must be one of the following professionals and registered with your relevant regulating body: a social worker, occupational therapist, nurse, chartered psychologist or AMHP (Approved Mental Health Practitioner) and have at least two years post qualifying experience in your profession..
The post holder will:
* Complete urgent, standard and renewal assessments, on behalf of the Supervisory Body in a timely manner.
* Work with a variety of citizens that have complex needs.
* Be able to be flexible, can travel within and outside of the City of Wolverhampton.
* Have great communication, analytical and time management skills and the ability to work to tight timescales and use your initiative.
* Provide advice and support to others on MCA/DoLs when required.
* Provide support to newly qualified or trainee Best Interest Assessors
* Promote and support least restrictive practice and promote best interests of vulnerable citizens in our service.

Our working arrangements
All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style.Some roles are agile which enable and empowers employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocation where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
