Position: MRO Component Workshop Manager
Location: Bournemouth
Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 8am to 4pm
Gama Aviation is currently recruiting for a MRO Component Workshop Manager to work within a dynamic, exciting, and progressive team at our modern Bournemouth base facility. This role will also include occasional travel as you will be overseeing the component shops in our Bournemouth, Oxford, and Staverton sites.
You will be responsible and accountable for the daily management, productivity, and growth of the MRO’s component repair and overhaul shops. This position will drive the teams assigned, ensuring the delivery of the highest levels of productivity and customer interface across all platforms.
You will be a results-driven leader with previous experience in Aviation component repair/overhaul, and proven skills in team management and high levels of competence in customer engagement and workshop control.

Responsibilities:
* Managing component overhaul with the view of expanding the component shop.
* Provides leadership in expanding the capabilities of the MRO overhaul shops, while working closely with the sales team to keep a healthy pipeline of component work activity.
* Will have budget responsibility and be able to speak to the performance of the component business.
* Will ensure the productivity of the facilities under control are forecasted, reviewed, and managed in an efficient manner.
* Reviews work performed and ensures completion of applicable forms and records necessary for compliance with MRO regulatory requirements and Corporate Standards.
* Arranges technical training as required, and ensures applicable qualifications are kept current for reports.
* Take ownership of delivery timescales and escalate this to senior management when unable to resolve at the daily update timeline.
* Ensures all work performed by assigned team complies with all required documentation including Component Maintenance Manuals, drawings, blueprints, and all other applicable required documentation.
* Ensure assigned team maintains and uses all required paperwork in accordance with CAA/EASA requirements.
* Evaluate workload, actual and projected schedule, parts availability, current and estimated manpower to determine adjustments to manpower requirements; makes manpower change recommendations to management.
* Establishes and fosters an environment of innovation and Lean thinking. Uses and encourages use of Lean tools and techniques to improve safety and repair processes, increase efficiency, and cost savings.
* Manage and deliver the requirements of our HR process as relating to disciplinary and Performance Appraisals for direct reports.
* Provides input to performance appraisals to area management for review.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:
Essential
* 5 years’ experience in an Aircraft Component Overhaul environment, or Part 145 Base Maintenance.
* Ability to lead and line manage a team of skilled repair personnel and support them fully as required to achieve the objectives.
* Ability to react to demand changes and manage the team accordingly.
* Manage multiple component overhaul locations.
* Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to read and interpret all required maintenance and regulatory docs.
* Must demonstrate expertise in operating all tools, test equipment and/or material handling equipment relevant to the area of responsibility.
* Must be able to operate specialized tooling.
* Good understanding of the concepts and requirements of SMS, Quality Assurance, and Audits.
* UK Driving License.
Advantageous
* Holder of an ICAO Type II recognized aircraft engineer's license.
* Demonstrated experience in an aviation-related management role.
