As a History Teacher, your responsibilities typically include more than just marking and planning, although those are important aspects of the role. Here are some key responsibilities you would typically have:
• Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver a comprehensive and engaging history curriculum that covers essential topics, themes, and skills relevant to the subject.
• Effective Classroom Instruction: Provide clear and effective instruction, utilizing innovative teaching methods, technology, and historical resources to make complex historical concepts accessible and relatable to students.
• Student Assessment: Assess student progress through a variety of evaluation methods, including quizzes, tests, projects, and class discussions, and provide constructive feedback to promote academic growth.
• Mentorship and Guidance: Foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of historical contexts in students, guiding them towards their academic and personal development, and preparing them for future opportunities in various fields.
• Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and organized classroom environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and a strong passion for history among students.
• Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of history education, bringing current insights into the classroom and participating in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
The successful candidate for History Teacher will have:
• Qualified Teacher Status (ideally PGCE, GTP, BEd, Cert Ed, BA with QTS) in History or a related field.
• Prior experience teaching History to secondary school students.
• Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment methods in history.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• DBS on Updated Service.
