This position is to cover maternity leave for up to 12 months.
MainObjectives
Toensure that the practice delivers an efficient service to its patients, byproviding a full and confidential, secretarial service to 4 GPs. This includes audio typing to a high-quality, utilising specific knowledgeof medical terminology, hospital procedures, secondary care providers andoutside agencies.
Main duties of the job
Tobe responsible for the delivery of accurate referral letters and othercorrespondence using the Electronic Referral Service.
Wordprocess referral letters, reports and GPs correspondence as required from audioand manuscript.
Generalsecretarial duties including filing, reports, scanning etc.
Toact as a point of contact for GPs, patients, relatives and other externalbodies, taking action as necessary ensuring a full audit trail.
Arrangeurgent referrals and keep records of all patients referred under 2 week waitrule.
Ensureaccurate input of information to medical computer system and that all datainput is coded.
Deal with outside agencies with regards to any other requests such as Safeguarding and Multi Diciplinary Team Meetings

Type/word process referral letters, reports and GPscorrespondence as required from audio dictations.
To acquire and develop new skills to ensure a constantreview and updating of practices and procedures as required.
To update and maintain standard operating procedures andtrain others as required.
Ensure all confidential waste is shredded and disposedof so as not to compromise confidentiality.
General secretarial duties including filing, reports,minute preparation, scanning etc.
To act as a point of contact for GPs, patients,relatives and other external bodies.
Ensure that patients and other persons telephoning orcalling in to the Health Centre are treated courteously, promptly, efficientlyand professionally regardless of their age, race, sex or attitude.
Deal with telephone enquiries from hospitals, patients,outside agencies and communicate messages accurately and professionally, takingaction as necessary ensuring a full audit trail.
Arrange urgent outpatient appointments and domiciliaryvisits.
Arrange urgent referrals and keep records of all patientsreferred under 2 week wait rule.
Arrange hospital transport for patients who fulfil thecriteria.
Attend staff meeting and training sessions as and whennecessary.
Take notes and transcribe minutes of meetings andcarry out any follow up action as required.
Maintain efficient office filing and informationsystems.
Ensure accurate input of information to medicalcomputer system and that all data input is read coded to make sure thatclinical audit and research can be performed.
Participate in the formulation of new systems andprocedures and implement any such developments in order to maintain the mostappropriate and effective medical secretarial/administrative support to thePractice.
Awareness of current issues and to support personaldevelopment by attending relevant training sessions.
Participate in Annual Staff Appraisal.
Manage appropriate projects/tasks delegated byPractice Manager/GP with only broad procedural guidelines and without anydirect supervision to ensure that an efficient quality outcome is provided.
Undertake mandatory training required by the practice.
Assist in the training and development of other staff.
Comply with Health and Safety Policy and Procedure.
Have an understanding and adhere to GDPR compliance.
Undertake any other duties within the general scope ofthe post and appropriate to the grading.
