About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units within Jacobs and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.
Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. To do this, we are seeking to continuously employ talented individuals to join our diverse team that are excited about nuclear projects and are committed to Net Zero, and Energy Security.
We have an opportunity for a Cost Engineer to support the Sizewell C Project. You will be part of the PMO team responsible for ensuring effective cost control is maintained via timely and accurate reporting. The role will be responsible for leading the Cost function, providing Cost Management for the programme’s identified projects, and coordinating updates to the programme’s Cost Report, demonstrating the accrued cost position, EAC, and performance comparable to the baseline. Key responsibilities will be:
1. Leading on the development of Cost Management tools and the implementation of the Cost Management system, through selection, development and roll out to ensure the accuracy of reported costs
2. Overall responsibility for Cost management function and within the Project
3. Development and continuous improvement of the programme’s Cost Management Strategy & Plan and all associated processes and procedures required to deliver effective and efficient cost reporting and analysis for the programme.
4. Develop, implement, and maintain the programme’s approach to future cost analysis (inc. Earned Value or equivalent), and to establish a Trend
5. Management Process to enable the controlled management and variation of the programme’s EAC.
6. Lead in conjunction with Commercial the establishment of rules of credit with Supply chain teams
7. Maintain and implement changes to the programme’s cost baseline in conjunction with Change Management and Commercial, and in line with the programme’s Reporting Calendar, and assist with the assessment of change in line with the established Commercial and Change Sub Committee (CCSC) process and timelines
8. Undertake and maintain suitable assurance checks to ensure all cost data reported is robust and an accurate reflection of the programme’s current position
Here's What You'll Need:
9. Educated to professional standard and membership of an appropriate body and to degree level or equivalent
10. Ability to communicate cost and performance information to peers/managers/client in a way that is understood by all, especially those with limited knowledge of project controls
11. Comfortable with challenging assumptions and processes in order to constantly improve the delivery of performance data
12. Detailed working knowledge of cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis
13. Experience of identifying, analysing, and solving problems
14. Strong understanding/ working knowledge of Cost engineering/ forecasting tools (such as PRISM/ EcoSys/ Cobra)
15. Advanced working knowledge of Earned Value Methodologies
16. Experienced in working within Project Controls in a Major Programme environment
