About Emerging Futures CIC
Emerging Futures works nationally with people affected by addiction, encouraging them to make positive changes to their lives.
We believe that no one should suffer the stigma associated with addiction, and that everyone seeking support should feel valued and respected.
We provide homes for people to connect with others and make the necessary changes to move towards independent, healthy living.
Our behaviour change services provide a confidential space to share experiences, and offer practical support to those who want to change.
The Emerging Futures accredited coach training develops the skills of our volunteers, motivating people to give back and reconnect with their community.
About the role
As a Rough Sleepers Community Support Worker, you will be working with rough sleepers (and those at risk of rough sleeping) in the city of Worcester. Many of these service users will have problems with drug use, alcohol abuse or both.
You will be supporting people into treatment and encouraging them to achieve their recovery goals and support the move towards behaviours that enable wellbeing and community engagement. You will work closely with other partner agencies and volunteers.
You will promote a holistic approach to recovery that includes the five ways to wellbeing, access to fellowship groups if appropriate, a focus on physical and mental health, and meaningful activity.
You will be responsible for contributing to the overall performance of the service to ensure that positive outcomes are achieved through working in an asset-based, collaborative, and pro-active manner.
This is an entry-level role, and we understand that not all candidates will have direct work experience in a similar position. We provide training to all of our Community Support Workers, enabling them to deliver the role confidently and in a holistic, person-centred way. Whilst a passion for working with people affected by addiction is crucial, candidates may also have experience of working with people with complex needs including challenging or negative behaviour, substance misuse and/or criminal offending backgrounds and supporting them to make changes to their lives. You may also have:
* Experience of working with people who are “hard to engage” and have multiple complex needs.
* Experience of supporting individuals to initiate and sustain behaviour change that increases safety and wellbeing (or personal lived experience of sustained recovery).
* Experience of recording information onto a database.
* Knowledge and experience of applying motivational interviewing and relapse prevention/management interventions.
* Desistance from treatment services for a minimum of 6 months.
