Job Title: Farm & Countryside Maintenance Worker
Responsible to: Estate Manager
Hours of work: 40 hours per week, flexible hours/days, long term contract
Salary: £12.50/£14.00 per hour depending on experience
Location: Sites in and around Malmesbury, Tetbury & Marlborough
Job Purpose
CP Farming is looking for an enthusiastic person with meticulous attention to detail to work across our mixed farming business at farms in South Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that an excellent standard of tidiness, upkeep and repair is maintained across all of our farms. They will be expected to provide assistance to the Farming Manager in implementing planned works and to provide additional support to farming activities as required. Successful candidates will work well as part of our team and will positively contribute to the smooth running of the organisation and have aspirations for a long career with CP Farming.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensuring that the estate and farmland are always kept tidy and litter free
2. Repairing of fences, dry stone walls and gateways
3. Removal and/or creation of gateways where necessary
4. Erection of new fences and dry stone walls
5. Filling of potholes and maintenance of tracks and accesses
6. Ensuring that ditches are clear of debris and that water runs freely
7. Strimming and topping verges frequently to maintain a high standard of appearance and upkeep
8. Assistance with removal of fallen trees and limbs
9. Assistance with planting and care of trees and hedges
10. Establishment, topping and maintenance of environmental stewardship plots
11. Clearing and topping of public rights of way to ensure tidiness and adequate access, including ensuring that there is proper signage
12. Hedgecutting
13. General repair and maintenance of all farm buildings, including roofing, guttering, exterior paneling, gates, etc
14. Maintenance of farmyards, including the removal of litter, scrap metal, weeds/vegetation, and debris and upkeep of hardstandings.
15. Knapsack spraying of weeds and vegetation for tidiness and pest prevention
16. Ensuring machinery and equipment is cleaned weekly and in working order
17. Coordination and operation of hired machinery as required for completing planned works
18. Following and implementing H&S procedures to ensure a safe working environment
Additional Duties
1. Assisting the estate’s gardening team with heavy work, as required
2. Maintenance work at estate owned residential properties, as required
3. General liaising with contractors and suppliers
4. Perform any other reasonable duties at the discretion of, and in consultation with, the Farming Manager

Essential Requirements
1. High level of attention to detail
2. Rigorous attitude towards tidiness
3. Strong organisational skills
4. Positive attitude, self motivated, strong initiative
5. Ability to work independently and as part of an established team
6. Working knowledge and demonstrable skills in repair and maintenance work
7. A full UK driving license (category B)
Desirable Requirements
1. UK towing license (category B+E)
2. Chainsaw Certificate
3. Telehandler Certificate (CPCS A17)
4. PA1 (pesticide application foundation) and PA6 (knapsack spraying) qualifications
5. Previous experience within the agricultural industry
6. Any other relevant qualifications
