This automotive component manufacturer based in Llanelli is looking for an experienced Production Manager to join their team, due to growth and expansion. The company is part of an internationally represented group with an impressive history and progressive approach, continually adding new products and technologies.
The Role
This is a permanent full time position working 08:00AM - 04:30PM Monday - Thursday with an early 01:00PM finish on a Friday.
Duties will include:
1. To co-ordinate Engineering activities including Health & Safety,
2. To continually assess ways of ensuring equipment is optimised and specified to minimise the risk of accidents/injuries
3. Provide systematic approach to problem solving and co-ordinate activities
4. Attend and support actions from problem solving activities, production and daily management meetings
5. Available to support out of normal working hours
6. Deal with customers on a one to one basis with regards to issues and engineering changes.
7. The successful management of the departmental personnel to attain KPI's and customer targets.
8. Ensure best practice in Health & Safety on all aspects of day-to-day working
9. Support the development of the manufacturing engineers with current and new equipment
10. To monitor Key Performance Indicators (OEE) on improvement areas & Act accordingly
11. Development, installation, commission & validation of new, modified & re-sited equipment & facilities
12. Recommendations on contingency planning to cover the event of equipment failure, including recommended spares
13. Plan and co-ordinate shutdown activities relating to projects being worked on
Requirements
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications, experience and attributes:
14. A minimum of 3 years experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within an automotive or mass manufacturing environment essential
15. Bsc in an Engineering Discipline (preferred)
16. Recognised 4 year apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.
17. Experience with Lean manufacturing, workstation layout design, 5S and SMED
18. Strong communicator at all levels, organisational and team leadership skills
19. Ability to plan and manage objectives and priorities despite conflicting agendas and multiple deliveries.
20. Fault finding and problem solving
21. Experience of fast paced, JIT, demanding work environment
22. Project managing shutdown/improvement activity experience.
23. Ability to delegate effectively & utilize available resource.
24. Thorough working knowledge of welding process and technologies (Spot and Mig)
25. Thorough understanding of Project Management, & Process Optimisation techniques.
26. Familiarity with Robotics and tooling.
27. Financial awareness previous experience of monitoring budgets, understanding of financial implications of decisions.

29. Persuasive, assertive and positive attitude towards change.
30. Self motivated, have confidence in making decisions and have a proactive attitude
