Senior Systems Engineer
Location: New Malden, Broad Oak, or Frimley (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £54,000, based on experience
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll engage in a range of systems engineering tasks, focusing on trials and integration within the Combat Systems Strategic Projects team. This dynamic role includes hands-on deployment, configuration, and testing of combat systems software and architecture using Agile practices. You'll directly support both internal and client-facing trials, ensuring smooth integration and successful demonstrations of complex combat systems.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Engineer Role:
* Perform systems engineering tasks related to trials and integration, supporting both in-house and customer-facing projects.
* Configure and deploy virtual machines, software containers, and systems to facilitate trials, experiments, and integration tests.
* Collaborate on defining requirements, high-level designs, and cost estimates to guide the delivery of trials and meet business objectives.
* Document system deployments and configurations to assist with design certification and knowledge transfer.
* Represent the business during customer forums, addressing technical issues and supporting occasional international trials when required.
Your Skills and Expertise:
Essential:
* Strong background in Systems and/or Software Engineering.
* Ability to take concepts and translate them into requirements and design specifications.
* Hands-on experience running trials and experiments in customer settings.
* An analytical approach to problem-solving, with a keen attention to detail.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of Combat Management Systems, ideally within a naval context.
* Familiarity with IT networking, server configurations, message protocols, and virtualisation.
Educational Requirements:
Engineers should hold a qualification in Engineering or a related STEM field and be working toward professional registration (Incorporated or Chartered Engineer) with a recognised institution. Support is provided for engineers aiming for this accreditation, and priority is given to those already registered.
