Senior Solution Architect, Database Migration Accelerator
Enterprises of all shapes and sizes are moving to the cloud and they need your help to do it. If you want to help migrate companies to the cloud while providing input on the products and services needed to enable this mass migration – read on. This is no small challenge as you’ll be helping large customers get a great start on their cloud migration journey. As part of the Amazon Database Migration Accelerator (DMA) team, you’ll use your experience and real-world know-how to help customers move their database applications to AWS. We are looking for talented migration specialists/architects that are passionate about databases and migrations, and are enthusiastic about applying bold new ideas to real-world problems. You will be forward-looking and aware of the latest DB technology offerings (including both relational and NoSQL), and migration methodologies. Databases and Analytics Services at AWS covers a range of data platforms including Amazon Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, Athena, as well as AWS Database Migration Service, Data Pipeline, Glue and more. As each service grows, so does adoption by customers worldwide.

In this position, you will deal with demanding customers and pressing deadlines – but that just keeps things interesting. You’ll have exceptional problem-solving skills, strong business judgment, and demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams. This position requires a solid technical background, and you should be customer-focused with a passion for the cloud and information technology. You should have a deep understanding of at least one of Oracle or SQL Server, Sybase, or DB2 databases, and knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other AWS native database engines is highly desirable. Past experience in database migrations and migration technologies is required.
Key Job Responsibilities
As a Solution Architect on the Database Migration Accelerator team, you will be:
1. Working with customers, AWS sales, professional services, solution architects, and product teams to drive migrations to AWS managed databases.
2. Assessing customer database workloads, helping qualify those applications that are suitable for migration and developing a high-level migration plan.
3. Identifying technical solutions to migration roadblocks and guiding database and application developers to implement them.
4. Assisting customers in the execution of migration proof-of-concept projects.
5. Delivering technical workshops and immersion days.
6. Advising customers throughout the migration lifecycle, earning their trust and satisfaction.
7. Enabling customers in the use of AWS database and migration products and services.
8. Identifying new opportunities for AWS to improve our products and innovate on behalf of our customers.
Minimum Requirements
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience
- Knowledge of SAP systems (like SAP Business Suite, S/4HANA, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP HANA, SAP Business Objects, etc.) and their architecture and infrastructure needs
- Experience working with end user or developer communities
