The Role and Key Responsibilities
Are you ready for a change? Perhaps you are looking to kick start your investigative career, or are an experienced investigator looking for a new challenge?
A brilliant opportunity has arisen to join the innovative new Initial Investigation Team (IIT) based out of HQ, Lewes. The new team has been formed under the Local Policing Service Improvement & Engagement Department, and will use modern technology to engage and support victims of crime in the initial report stage via remote applications. The focus of the team is to ensure, as a force, we deliver on our priorities of protecting communities and victims, catching criminals and delivering an outstanding service.
As an IIT investigator, you will service daily virtual appointments with victims within 48 hours of their initial contact. You will be vital in identifying lines of enquiry, capturing evidence, providing safeguarding and preparing the investigation for hand over to the appropriate secondary team in a timely manner.
We shall service this demand through a series of regular, fixed diary appointments, ensuring that the days are structured, appropriate breaks are given and that you are given time away from the diary to finalise any initial investigations if necessary. However, the aim will be to service today’s demand, today. The expectation is that the majority of investigations will be dealt with the same day, and in any case no longer than your set.
You will work within a large team working on a 6-on-3-off, early and late shift pattern. You will be provided with the technology to fulfil your role and you will be supported by dedicated supervision across the three different sections. Although based out of HQ, the team will offer agile working, with a 60/40 split between HQ and agile working, respectively.
The team is looking to launch post summer and thus we would like to gather your expressions of interest ahead of the go-live date.
Successful applicants will be encouraged and supported to maintain any secondary skills they hold (PSU etc).
If you would like to become part of the team, please submit an application detailing your skills and experience on why you would be suited to this role, based on the responsibilities and skills & experience below.
