World Leader in Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Centre of Excellence in Witney for the development and manufacture of electrodes and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The site has been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist to join our R&D team to provide scientific expertise and leadership across the ADC product range and for technical collaboration with Engineering, Regulatory, Commercial, Quality, Clinical Affairs and Research & Development organizations worldwide.
Joining one of our sensor development teams, your main responsibilities will include leading a technical team in test method development and transfer activities through scientific experimentation using varied analytical chemistry techniques, with a particular focus on HPLC, LC-MS and GC-MS. In this role you and your team will be integral to the delivery of analytical test methods through characterization studies and test method validation activities. Your input and delivery of results will be instrumental in developing suitable quantitative analytical techniques to support new product development and transfer, on-market product improvement programs as well as wide-ranging investigative activities.
You will be involved in development projects with scope ranging between small to large volume manufacturing across laboratory and production environments, as well as early-stage feasibility projects and development of a portfolio of new technologies for Abbott to explore, to support continued execution of innovation and progress in the development of sensor technology. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual, able to manage a multitude of interrelated activities with varying priorities, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. You will bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with preference given to those with prior technical management and leadership experience and exposure to collaboration with both multiple internal cross-functional groups and external contacts. You will be degree qualified, preferably with a Chemistry bias, and bring experience in analytical techniques with expert knowledge of HPLC and a minimum of 5 years experience of method development, validation and transfer. Experience working in a regulated GLP/GMP environment, with other analytical methods and medical device (ISO13485) development is desirable.
