We are working with a motivating and forward-thinking school for students aged 3 to 18 who have an Education Health and Care Plan, catering to a wide spectrum of special educational needs and/or disabilities, ranging from moderate/severe to profound and multiple, including students with autism and related behaviours.
As a Teaching Assistant you will work under the direction of teaching or senior staff to implement support, care, and learning programmes, facilitating access to education for pupils with severe learning difficulties, including complex and multiple special educational needs, as well as those with challenging behaviour. This role involves working in a variety of learning environments, both within the classroom and in other educational settings.
Key duties will include:
* Supervising and providing targeted support for students, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
* Building constructive relationships with students and interacting with them based on their individual needs.
* Supporting individuals in implementing personal care plans (e.g., eating, continence, toileting) to promote independence and participation.
* Collaborating with the teacher to implement strategies that help students reach their learning objectives.
